
Best of Reston Winners Named 01/25/2008 : Observer Best of Reston Winners Named Reston Interfaith and the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the 2008 Best of Reston awards during a luncheon Thursday. Winners include the Reston Garden Club, a local group of gardeners who have supported the Walker Nature Education Center and who have planted hundreds of trees and flowers throughout the community, South Lakes High School’s safety and security assistant John Coleman and Ruth Overton, an active volunteer who has worked with the Reston Chorale and the Reston Community Center. Also honored were Judy Redpath and her company, VISTA Wealth Strategies, and the volunteer medical providers at the Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic, which serves low-income families and individuals in the Herndon and Reston Communities. Local developer The JBG Companies and real estate and property management firm Tetra Partnerships also received Best of Reston awards The annual awards program honors businesses, organizations and individuals who have shown a commitment to community service in the local area. The groups will be formally honored during the 17th annual Best of Reston gala April 24.
